Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is one of Mexico and Central America’s traditional holidays where family members commemorate, reunite and honor beloved ancestors, family and friends. It is a time of celebration and remembrance. When we took these photos honoring day of the dead, we used low key lighting. Low-key lighting is a lighting effect that uses a harsh light source to enhance shadows in your scene. We use low key lighting to make an image have a darker mood or be more dramatic. My favorite photo is the one with the mirror because it has a very ominous feel to it.
