Comparing the darkroom to photoshop you see a very big difference but tons of similarities. Most of the tools in photoshop originate from photo techniques in the dark room like dodge, burn, and exposure. The purpose of dodging an image is to make it lighter, but only in certain areas. I used the dodge tool in the photo of the dancer to make the highlights in her hair brighter and the light photos of the image stand out. Burning an image does the exact opposite, and I used the tool to make the shadows in the image create a nice contrast from where I used the dodge tool. The sponge tool makes an image more saturated, I used this to add color to the dancers outfit.

A double exposure is am image that is overlayed with another, as if you exposed film twice while taking a photo. You can take two sets of photos on top of each other creating double exposures with negatives or you can expose the same piece of light sensitive paper to two different negatives in the dark room. A simple double exposure is only two images over layed while a complex double exposure is strategically overlayed in certain places and ways. My photo of the illusion on top of a face is an example of a complex exposure and the photo of me is simple.
